William K. “Kenny” Sutton, 83, died at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Eunice Smith Home. He was born January 29, 1929 in Pearl, IL the son of the late James W. and Eva E. (Wheeler) Sutton.
He served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired in 1985 as a Captain with the Alton Fire Department after 25 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and a member of VFW Post 1308 in Alton. On March 11, 1949 in Pearl, IL he married Ruby Marie Jones and she preceded him in death on January 13, 1990.
Surviving are three daughters; Bonna Downey of Grafton, Karen Welsh (John) of Grafton and Judy Shanahan (Erin) of Peoria, IL, two sons; Dennis Sutton (Karen) of Godfrey and Steve Sutton of Alton, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two infant sisters and a son- in-law; William Downey.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl, IL with Reverend Stacy Cavanaugh to officiate.
