William G. Yavorski, 77, passed away at 8:13 pm, Monday October 24, 2011 at his house with his family by his side.


He was born in Wilsonville, IL, on September 24, 1934 the son of the late John “Tug” and Margaret (Batutis) Yavorski.

On October 8, 1955, he married Delores Searles at Main Street United Methodist Church, she survives.

William served in the United States Army for seven years.

He had many jobs including; Union Tank Car, Alton Box Board, Illinois Terminal, Part-time Mail Carrier, Parking Meter Collectors, MTM club, and McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis. He retired from Boeing in 1997. He was a scout leader until he had to work evenings. He belonged to Main St. United Methodist Church in Alton and the Masons of Wood River. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia Mary Fields of Alton; two granddaughters, that he loved greatly, Ashley Fields and Jennifer Fields, both of Alton; one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Loraine Yavorski, of Downers Grove, Il; their two sons and a daughter, Douglas, Alex, Christine, Yavorski; and three great nephews; Two sister-in-laws Bernadine Brune of Mo, and Ruth Searles of Alton; and several nieces and nephews on his wife’s side. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Paul Yavorski.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Thursday October 27, 2011 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 am Friday October 28, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Rev Jamie Hahs and Rev Charles Schwab officiating. 

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park. Military Rites will be conducted by Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.

Memorials may be directed to the Main Street United Methodist Church.
