William C. Hamilton, 97, of Gillespie, IL, died at Heritage Health of Gillespie on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at 10:50 am.
He was born March 1, 1924, in Gillespie, IL to William C. Hamilton & Harriett Forsythe Hamilton. He married Elsie Garrett Hamilton. He was retired after having been a steelworker for Laclede Steel, Alton, IL. William was a graduate of Gillespie High School Class of 1942. He was a veteran of the US Navy after having served during WWII. William was a member of the Gillespie Lions Club, VFW Post 4547 of Gillespie and Clan Hamilton.
He is survived by his companion, Linda Vidmar, son, Gary (Cindy Karrick) Hamilton of Gillespie, IL, daughters, Justine (Mike) Pintar of Staunton, IL, Delores (Tom Tornatore) Schmidt of St. Peters, MO, grandchildren, Jarrod (Katie) Hamilton, Brad (Stephanie Jackson) Hamilton, Shanna (Ryan) Ocepek, Brooke (Jason) Dugger, Nicole Pintar, Angela (Kieth) Otto, great-grandchildren, Alyssa Hamilton, Lukas Hamilton, Dalton Hamilton, Nolan Hamilton, Sydney Dal Pozzo, Sloane Dugger, Ryenne Dugger, Finley Dugger, Garrett Otto, Isabelle Otto, Ariana Otto.
William was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, son, William C. Hamilton, III, and grandson, Jeffrey Schmidt.
Friends may call on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Funeral services are Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie. Burial will be at Gillespie Cemetery, Gillespie, IL. COVID 19 guidelines will be followed.
