William “Bill” Enos, 81, passed away at 2:26 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born September 23, 1930 in Alton, he was the son of Ellison and Edith (Challacombe) Enos. Bill served his country and was so proud of being able to from 1950-1955. He was in the Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge 25 AF & AM and the United Association of Plumbing and Pipefitting Local 553 for over 50 years. He was employed by the State Hospital as a pipefitter for over 30 years. He married the former Elizabeth Jordan and they were married for over 54 years. To many they were the perfect couple. Along with his wife he is survived by two daughters, Marcia Enos of St. Louis, MO, and Susan Allen and her husband Ed of Kansas City, MO, two grandchildren, Ashley and Audrea Allen, and his best friend and caretaker, Tammy (Herndon) Schmidt of Godfrey. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
