William “Bill” E. Sparks

William “Bill” E. Sparks, 82, passed away at 9:35 am Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.   

He was born in Peoria, IL on April 2, 1933, the son of Merle and Agnes (Schiefer) Sparks. 

Bill married Josie A. Fischer in Bethalto on August 8, 1987.  They just celebrated 28 years of marriage.  She survives. 

He was a retired Teamsters Truck Driver. He was a life member of the Alton VFW Post 1308. He was a Korean War veteran from 1951 to 1953 and he served his country proudly. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Dennis) Kellim of Holiday Shores, Cindi Jones-Lindley of San Diego, CA and Denise (Jamie Farmer-Sparks) Sparks of Alton; a son, Todd (Sonja) Werner of South Roxana; a stepdaughter, Carla Lattimore of Alton; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Ashley (Mike) Snider, Aaron (Kristin) Kellim, Brandi (Brian Cooney) Lindley, Sarah (fiancée Aaron Bowman) Werner, Jessica Lewey, Joseph Werner, Devin Moore, Austin Moore and Christopher Moore; nine great grandchildren, Mikenley, Bryson, Brian,  Briaunna, Mackenzie, Parker, Braden, Ariel and Aubree; two brothers, Ron (Lynne) Sparks of Peoria, IL and Joe (Mary) Sparks of Gainesville, Florida and nieces and nephews.   

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday, November 6, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be at 9 am Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military rites given by Alton VFW Post 1308.
