Wilfred ”Wif” Carl Dustmann, 87, passed away at 5:50 pm Sunday, October 9, 2011 at VIP Manor in Wood River.
He was born on February 10, 1924 in Moro Township, IL, the son of Alfred and Gertrude (Henke) Dustmann.
He married Lucille Julia Cooper on October 14, 1945 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway. She survives.
Wif owned and operated Dustman Service Shop in Midway for 26 years. He was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway where he was a charter member of the brotherhood. He volunteered for the Meadowbrook Fire Department for 25 years, and was the President for 12 years. He was a member of the Bunker Hill AARP, Bethalto Senior Citizens and the Wood River Senior Citizens. He spent his winters in Texas for over 14 years and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, music and playing the harmonica and guitar.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Nikoleta Dustmann of Oklahoma; two grandchildren and a spouse, Douglas Dustmann and David and Crystal Dustmann all of Oklahoma City, OK; five great grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Dustmann of Alton and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway. Funeral services will be 10 am on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the church with Rev. Lori Schaefer officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to the St. John’s United Church of Christ Capital Fund.
