Wayne K. Jennings, 89, passed away 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.
Born May 19, 1925 in Wood River, he was the son of Earl and Cleta (Miller) Jennings.
A World war II Coast Guard veteran, he had been a Maintenance Supervisor for East Alton-Wood River High School Dist#14 before retiring.
An active member of the 1st United Methodist Church in East Alton, Wayne had served as a School Board Member for East Alton Dist. #13 as well as 25 years on the Building and Zoning Committee for the Village of East Alton. He was a life-time member of Wood River Masonic Lodge #1062.
On June 10, 1945 in East Alton, he married the former Betty Frazer. She survives.
Surviving also are three daughters, Linda (Bob) Vasey of Elko, NV, Connie (Dave) Skundrich of Jackson, MI, Gayle (Scott) Boyd of Shipman, Kathy (Larry) Wilson of Holt, MO; seven grandchildren, Bryan Vasey, Kimberly (Ryan) Fahey, Lauri (Mike) Sierminski, Jennifer Skundrich (Mike), Derek (Kris) Boyd, Colby Boyd, Katie (Dan) Bailey; nine great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Victor M. Jennings.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15 at the 1st United Methodist Church in East Alton. Rev. Bill Pyatt will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Military Rites will be performed by VFW Post 1308 of Alton.
Memorials may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church in East Alton.
