Wanetta "Teady" L. McCann, 77, passed away unexpectedly, at 8:25 pm, Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
She was born on September 4, 1932 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Pete & Nora (Hyman) Gaffney.
She married Robert McCann on March 26, 1948 in Alton. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2006.
Wanetta worked at Irene’s Tavern for over 20 years, then was a cook at the Bethalto Inn and later a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Marsha McCann of Bethalto; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie & Pauline McCann of Bethalto, 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Terry McCann, Chad & Megan McCann, Jeannie & Gary Carpenter and Robert McCann, 12 great grandchildren, Lyndsey, Melissa, Tyler, Taylor, Aaron, Christopher, Samantha, Brendon, Hannah, Morgan, Abbey and Peyton and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis & Judy Gaffney of Alton and Robert & Brenda Gaffney of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10 am on Saturday, August 21, 2010.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
