Wanda Marie Freand, 74, passed away peacefully with family by her side at 3:45 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at Robings Manor in Brighton after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born October 6, 1949 in Carrollton, IL, she was the daughter of Harvey and Norma (Bechtold) Lacey. She loved life and never met a stranger along the way. She was the best mom, grandma, and grandma great our family could ask for. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Norma Lacey, her three brothers, David, Dennis and Kevin Lacey, three sisters, Gladys Dobey, Carolyn Buchanan, and Brenda Atchison, daughter, Karen Wiles, and a grandson, Brent Cox. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Cox and son-in-law, Jeff Cox of Shipman, sister, Betty Denham of Eldred, granddaughters, Brittanny Cox (Cody), Beth Wiles (Walker), grandsons, Matt Wiles, Greg Wiles (Tobi), great grandchildren, Shay, Chloe, Matt, Amoni, Rion, Rylynn, Banks, Eliana, Lily and Zeke, as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who she loved dearly. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Kim Bell will officiate. Burial will be private.
