Walter Watters

Walter Watters, 81, died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Alton Memorial Hospital.  He was born on March 22, 1929, in Shawneetown, Illinois the son of the late Charles and Dorothy Watters.  He married the former Helen Bone and she preceded him in death.  Survivors include two brothers: Charles "Tommy" Watters of East Alton, Ronnie Watters of Ridgeway, Illinois, one sister: Ruby Charleston of Henderson, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.

He was formerly employed as an over the road truck driver.  He owned and operated a lawn service and he still operated a dump truck service.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers: Herman Watters, James "Boady" Watters, an infant brother, and a nephew: Danny Herman Watters.

Visitation will be from 10am to 11am on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River followed by graveside services at 12:30pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
