Walter Pruitt Sr., 79, passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Bria of Godfrey. He was born on April 30, 1945 in Alton, the son of the late John and Sinah Rosetta (Worthey) Pruitt.
Walter served in the U.S. Army and retired from Clark Oil Refinery. On December 9, 1989 in Bowling Green, MO he married Dixie Lee Workman and she survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Shelly (Phil) Kelsay of MO, Nancy Sebastian of IL, Kamie (Tracy) Fry of MO, Dusty Stamm (Tony Ruiz) of IL, Angela Pruitt of IL, three sons, Walter (Monica) Pruitt Jr. of AK, Ronald (Marla) Pruitt of IL and Gary (Roberta) Pruitt of MO, numerous loved grandchildren and great grandchildren and one brother, Gerald Pruitt of IL, one brother in law, Virgil Langley of MO and one sister in law, Dorothy Pruitt of IL.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, one son-in-law, John Sebastian.
Visitation will be Monday, November 11, 2024 from 4–7 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery with military honors from Alton VFW Post 1308.
Memorials may be made to ALS Association or Parkinson’s Foundation.
