Walter Davis, 69, passed away at 1:32 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, in Alton. He was born on February 13, 1941, in Peoria, Illinois the son of the late Harold and Judith (Belk) Davis. He married the former Sylvia Embry in 1975 in Tuscon, Arizona and she survives. Other survivors include five daughters and sons in law: Vickie of Peoria, Illinois, Brenda of Peoria, Illinois, Robbin and Darryl Stout of Versailles, Missouri, Ada and Clifford Keesler of Wood River, Cindi and Danny Sinclair of Barnett, Missouri, two sons: Walter Davis Jr. of Maryland, Ricky Davis of Virginia, fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two sisters: Penny of Peoria, Illinois, Rosie of Peoria, Illinois, two brothers: Jack of Missouri, and Jim of Tennessee.
He was formerly employed at Davis Heating and Air Conditioning. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 111 in Peoria, Illinois. He was a veteran of the Navy. He attended Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Private inurnment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
