Vonda Marie Dobson, 58, passed away at 7:54 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2024 at SSM DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri, surrounded by her loving children and family.
She was born on September 16, 1965 in Alton, Illinois, the youngest of three daughters born to Cecil Frank “Bud” and Helen Lucille (Mayberry) Fones.
Vonda had a love of gardening, crafting and cooking, which made her employed with Josephine’s Tea Room in Godfrey, a natural fit.
She was a very talented artist, creating many drawing and even poetry writings. She was also a lover of music, and enjoyed attending concerts as often as she could with her family.
Her greatest joys in this life came from time spent with her children and grandchildren. No matter how big or small the occasion, so long as she was spending time with them, she was happy! She also enjoyed spending time with them, vacationing on the Meramec River.
With all the love in her heart that she had for her family, she managed to also share that love for animals as well. She loved animals of all kinds, including her fur grandbabies, Macy, Belle and Quinn. She also spent a great deal of time supporting area animal rescues.
Surviving are her mother, Helen Fones of Jerseyville; a son and daughter in-law, Jeffery and Viviana Fones of Hanford, California; a daughter, Maleri Dobson of Jerseyville; eight grandchildren, Logan, Danny, Persis, Jeffery Jr., Abigail, Gabriela and Michael; four step-grandchildren, Mirella, Aaliyah, Daniela and Gustavo Jr.; two sisters and brothers in-law, Deborah and Kenenth Hunt of Greenfield and Brenda and Joe Sears of Jerseyville; her lifelong companion, Robert “Scooter” Dobson of Jerseyville; along with her trusted support animal, Bear.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil “Bud” Fones; a granddaughter, Reese; as well as her son in-law, Lucas Parrish; as well as her support animal, Tristan “Buggies”.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday. Friends and family attending the visitation or funeral services are encouraged to dress casually.
