Virginia Lou Klocke, 74, passed away at 8:31 am on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Alton Nursing and Rehab while under the care of Family Hospice.


She was born on September 11, 1938 in Greene County, IL, the daughter of Roy and Zella (Meyer) Gansz. 

She married Herbert E. Klocke Sr. on January 24, 1953 in Golden Eagle, Calhoun County.  He survives.  

Virginia was a homemaker, she worked part time in the kitchen at the Knights of Columbus Bingo and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairietown, IL.  She enjoyed painting, sewing, bunko and working in her flower beds. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter, Herbert Klocke Jr of Prairietown, Everett and his wife, Cindy Klocke of Hazelwood, MO and Melinda Klocke of Maryland Heights, MO; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Jason Klocke, Randy Klocke, Donna and Wayne Steinhoff, Christopher and Tabby Klocke, Jonathon and Lauren Klocke, Benjamin Klocke and Rebecca Klocke; several great grandchildren; her siblings and their spouses, Homer and Shirley Gansz of Hardin, IL, Herman and Jeannie Gansz of Brighton and Rayceal and John Gramm of Holiday Shores and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Howard Gansz and a sister, June Nolle. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday, March 22, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, March 23, 2013 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Prairietown with Pastor Dale Skeesick officiating.

Burial will follow at Prairietown Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
