Virginia Lee Fohrman, 93, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, May 28, 2022, at Alton Memorial Rehabilitation and Therapy.
She was born in Godfrey on August 28, 1928, the daughter of William L. and Gladys (Crowson) Goodyear.
She grew up on the family farm and attended Summerfield School. The family moved to Alton where she attended and graduated from Alton Senior High School. She also attended Shurtleff College after graduation. Virginia married William B. Snyder in 1946, they divorced in 1966. They had one daughter, Danette. She married the love of her life, Harold J. Fohrman in 1967. He preceded her in death in 2008. Virginia worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Works until the birth of her daughter. She returned to the workforce in 1960 when she began working for the McDonnell-Douglas Corporation (now Boeing). She retired in 1991 after 31 years. Virginia was an avid reader who loved to travel and play golf.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Danette and Ron Peach; granddaughters, Caitlin Peach and Jaclene Sweetman (Tanner); great-grandchildren, Isla, Beau, Addilynn, and Easton.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Burial will be private at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
