Virginia K. Youngberg, 92, passed away at 9:13 am Monday September 19, 2011 in the emergency room at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
She was born on July 20, 1919 in Lincoln, Il, the daughter of James H. and Marie (Wilmert) Welsh.
She was a member of 12th Street First Presbyterian Church in Alton.
She married Marcus William Youngberg on November 20, 1941, at the Evangel and Reformed Church in Alton, IL. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1993.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law James & Wilma Youngberg of St. Peters, MO and Michael & Kim Youngberg of Alton; three grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Youngberg of Alton, Jennifer Michelle Brinkmann and her husband, Matthew; and Brian James Youngberg of Florissant, MO; and one great grandson, Hunter O’Keefe Studer of St. Peters, MO.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, James Welsh, and a sister, Dorothy Graham.
In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Sunday October 16, 2011 at the 12th Street Presbyterian Church in Alton with Pastor David Olson. officiating.
Inurnment was private at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
