Virginia “Ginny” Gangloff Baahlmann, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2013 at her home with her family at her side. She was born April 10, 1930 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of the late Roy and Viola (Boice) Gangloff. Ginny loved to golf and played for many years as a member of Lockhaven Country club with her husband Ralph, and spent countless joyful hours there with family and friends. She was an accomplished artist and painted many beautiful pictures and loved to work out in her garden tending to her flowers and plants. She really enjoyed playing cards with her friends, but her biggest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and family. On June 14, 1952 in Aviston, IL she married Dr. Ralph Baahlmann Sr. and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2012. Ginny was a loving mother to her six children, Ralph H. Baahlmann Jr. of Godfrey, Mark G. Baahlmann of Alton, Barbara M. Boyd (Dr. Tobin Boyd) of Alton, Matthew L. Baahlmann (Teri) of Godfrey, Nancy E. Reese (Tom) of Alton, and John L. Baahlmann (Nancy) of Brighton; nine grandchildren; Matthew and Jill Baahlmann, Matthew Korte (Kortney), Nick Korte, Megan and Christopher Springman , Grace and Jacob Reese, and Ashley Kaid (Anthony); and three great-grandchildren; Keagan Korte , Haylee Kaid and Piper Springman. Visitation will be from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose School, Marquette Catholic High School or St. Anthony’s Hospice. A special thanks to St. Anthony’s hospice and their caring nurses. Also to all the close friends and extended family who kept her in their prayers, especially to Dr. Leo and Laila Green, her very dear friends and longtime neighbor.
