Victor H. “Vic” Walter, 81, died at 11:05 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 5, 1930 in Alton, the son of the late Gustave A. and Cecelia (Walters) Walter. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. He retired after over 40 years as an electrician with IBEW Local 649 of Alton. He was also an electrical inspector for the City of Alton.
On February 9, 1957 in Alton he married Jean Stansbury and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter; Gail Beiser and her husband Bill of Godfrey and one son: Scott Walter of Alton. Three grandchildren; Adelaide “Addie” Beiser of Sturgeon, MO, W.C. “Billy” Beiser IV and his wife Sarah of Alton and Gustave Victor “Gus” Beiser of Godfrey. Two great grandchildren; W.C. “Will” Beiser V and Kayla Beiser of Alton and many nieces and nephews that were very dear to him. He was preceded in death by one brother; Maurice “Skeek” Walter and three sisters; Mary Boedecker, Kathleen Delaney and Patricia Walter, and an infant brother Landolin Walter and an infant sister; Elizabeth “Betty” Walter.
A private family service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be made to the 5 A’s of Alton.
