Vickey Cannedy

Vickey L. Cannedy, 61, passed away at 4:10 pm Thursday, July 11, 2013 at her home while under the care of Hospice of Southern Illinois with her family by her side.

 

She was born on May 20, 1952 in Carlinville, IL, the daughter of Joseph E. and Audrey E. (Reed) Hansen. 

She married Terry L. Cannedy on January 15, 1972 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. He survives.   

Vickey was a packer and bullet maker at Olin Corporation in East Alton until her retirement in 2008.  She was a member of the Woodburn Bible Church and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD).  She was the president of MADD of St. Clair County.  She coached her son’s baseball team, was a cub scout leader and she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason Cannedy and his fiancée, Faiza Ouechani and Nicholas and Sarah Cannedy all of Bunker Hill; three grandchildren, Dustin Robert Cannedy, Teresa Elizabeth “Libby” Cannedy and Connor Alan Cannedy; her siblings and their spouses, Joey Hansen of Portage, IN, Denny Hansen of Bethalto,  Eddie and Sally Hansen of Godfrey, Linda and Jeff Ogden of Godfrey and Kathy and Max Ehart of Vernon, IL; a sister-in-law, Maryanne Hansen of New Douglas, IL; a brother-in-law, Marion Rabacchi of Auburn, IL; an aunt, Bonnie Price of Alton and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Teresa Lynn Cannedy, a brother, Bob Hansen, a sister, Donna Rabacchi, a nephew, Bobby Hansen, an uncle, Maurice Price and a cousin, Marsha Price.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. 

Funeral services will be at 10 am Monday, July 15, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Jon Sanders  officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.   

Memorials may be made to  MADD or American Cancer Society.
