Verbalee “Scotty” Buchanan, 87, died at 3:37 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at VIP Manor Nursing Home in Wood River. She was born April 8, 1926 in Oran, MO the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Simmons) Scott. She worked in the corrugated Department for Owens IL Glass Company for many years. On January 25, 1951 she married Robert H. Buchanan and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2008.
Surviving are two sons; John S. Buchanan and his wife Diane of Godfrey and Tracy Buchanan of Alton, two grandchildren; Robert Buchanan and his wife Jamie and Jessica Buchanan, two great grandchildren; Brayden and Kamryn Buchanan, three half-sisters; Deloris Holland, Alma Martin and Terri McGauley, three half-brothers; Donald Perkinson, Alex Perkinson and Dennis Perkinson. She was preceded in death by one sister; Mary Arkabauer, two half-sisters; Betty Cairns and Alice Forbes, and one half-brother; Charley Perkinson.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at GENT Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Steve Rice to officiate.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
