Vera M. Opel. 83, passed away 9:37 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Novemeber 2, 1930 in Litchfield, she was the daughter of Alexander Joseph and Emelie (Siegel) Schneider.
A homemaker, she enjoyed doing volunteer work around the community.
On October 10, 1952 in Worden, she married Donald Opel. He survives.
Surviving also are a daughter, Kathy Opel of Wood River; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents;and a sister, Betty Hirsch.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Martin Schultz will officiate.
Burial will follow in Worden Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a member.
