Vera L. Cowan, 97, died at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Rosewood Care in Alton.
She was born August 30, 1915 the daughter of Joseph Benjamin and Maggie (Kramer) Lane. On March 30, 1935 in Havana, IL she married Kenneth “Jack” Cowan and he preceded her in death on February 9, 1985.
She is survived by one son; Ronald Cowan and his wife Sherry of Brighton, two grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, and her lifelong best friend; Ruth Reed of Alton.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery in Chandlerville, IL with the Reverend Norman Fletcher to officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
