Vera B. Landis, 86, died at 6:21 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born December 10, 1924 in Brussels, IL, she was the daughter of Emil Floyd and Lusetta A. (Kinder) Baker. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alton.
On September 24, 1948 in Alton, she married Donald C. Landis. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1993. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Ken Hausfather of Boulder, CO, two grandchildren, Samantha Landis and Leanna Landis, one brother, Glenn Baker of Tampa, FL, one sister, LaVon Brummette of Columbus, Ohio, and several cousins. Vera loved to travel to various countries and in the states and often traveled with cousins Linda Kirn and Melba Droege. She was a very loving person that looked after a lot of friends! She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Alan Landis and two sisters, Evelyn Birmingham and Edwyna Traitor.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Reverend Bill Veith will officiate. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Alton or Zion Lutheran Church in Batchtown, IL.
