Velva Jouett

Velva Mae Jouett, 84, died at 2:20 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2010 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon. 

Born January 21, 1926 in Alton, she was the daughter of August and Nellie (Kelley) Federle.  She retired from the Alton School District as a cafeteria manager and was a member of the Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church for 55 years. 

On August 12, 1945 in Alton, she marred Harold Jouett.  He survives.  Also surviving are two daughters, LuAnn Elmore and husband Hal of Naperville, IL and Jolene Mermis and husband Bill of Alton, one son, Danny E. Jouett and wife JaNeen of Spring, TX, seven grandchildren, Mike, Chris and Todd Jouett, Lindsay and Lauren Elmore and Jarrod and Dakota Mermis, five great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mary Bregenzer of Jerseyville and Ann Corwin of Alton.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, August, William, Norbert and Louis Federle. 

Graveside services will be private at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  Reverend Jeff Heil will officiate. 

Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
