Veda P. Ducommun, 94, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at her home in Godfrey. Born November 22, 1918 in Eldorado, IL, she was the daughter of Taylor and Milda (Nelson) Leathers.
She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Alton and volunteered at the Crisis Food Center. On November 12, 1942 she married Lawrence A. Ducommun in Alton. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2008.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Thomas Clark of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Timothy Clark of San Diego, CA and Claudia Clark of New York, NY, two sisters-in-law, Marge Ducommun of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Joann Leathers of Grayville, IL, a brother-in-law, Paul Ducommun of Alamogordo, New Mexico, two nieces, Joyce Thomas (Dale) and Carol Witham, two nephews, Bobby Gene Leathers (Betty), and Charles “Bud” Leathers (Starr), great niece and nephew, Jared and Katelynn Thomas, and very close friends, Mary Lu Albee and Jeremy Foster.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Community Christian Church in Alton and continue from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Community Christian Church. Pastor Dave Burger will officiate
Burial will be at Godfrey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crisis Food Center or the Community Christian Church.
