Thomas S. Agney, passed away at 8:30pm on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at his residence.  He was born on March 28, 1931, in  Pleasant Hill, Illinois the son of the late Raymond P. and Elsie (Murphy) Agney.  He married the former Fern Howard on March 17, 1963, in Hillsboro, Illinois and she preceded him in death on February 21, 2011.  Survivors include two daughters and a son in law: Nanci Beth and Terry Mott of Cottage Hills, Illinois, Kathryn L. Agney and her companion Darryl Herron of Bethalto, Illinois, three grandchildren: Nickolas A. Mott, Jessica L. Mott, Adaam Agney, a great grandson: Thomas A. Agney, a great granddaughter: Sarah Elizabeth Phillips, six sisters: Violet Agney, Shirley Ivy, Blanche Friesland, Mary Moore, Mable Segrest, Lorraine Collenberger, one brother and sister in law: Donald and Patricia Agney Sr., two sisters in law and a brother in law: Hazel Agney, Nina and Jim Bricker, several special nieces and nephews, and two dogs: Gizmo and Rascal.

He was formerly employed at Mississippi Lime Company and Bluff City Minerals as a truck driver.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fosterburg.  He was a volunteer for AVEC, and a volunteer at Eunice C. Smith Nursing Home. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers: Elmer and Raymond, two sisters: Ruby Agney, Doris Rybarzyck, twin sisters: Loretta and Lavetta. 

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, October 10, 2011, at the funeral home.  Pastor Troy Crain will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
