Thomas Meade Williams, 69, passed away at 6:10 am on Wedesday, May 1, 2013 at home with his family by his side after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.

He was born on September 5, 1943 in Alton, IL and raised by his loving parents, Thomas and Reva Williams. Dorothy Hammit Barszcz was his birth mother.

He married Sally L. Parker on December 12, 1962 in East Alton.  She survives.

He was the co owner and now sole owner of Runway Lounge in Bethalto with his friend Bob Johnson since October 1989.  He retired from Granite City Steel in 1996 after 33 years.

He was a kind and loving and very generous man.  He kept us all entertained with his outrageous sense of humor.  He loved hanging with his buddies with a fishing pole in his hands. He was one of a kind and there will never be another one like him.  We will miss him more than words can say.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sally L. Williams of Bethalto; four children and their spouses, Thomas M. Williams V and his wife, Rhonda of St. Louis, Terri Williams of Bethalto, Nicholas Williams and his wife, Tammy of Bethalto, Kristi Turner of Bethalto; seven grandchildren, Thomas M Williams VI, Jacob Kimbro, Meghan Tendick, Mackenzie Williams, Nicholas R. Williams, Tyler Wilks and Morgan Turner; two great grandchildren, RaeLee & Jacob Kimbro, Jr.; one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra & Jerry Chappell of Wood River and nieces and nephews, Kyle & Sara Chappell, Cindy Trosley, Mike Miller and Rick Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Shirley Miller.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

A memorial visitation will be from 12 Noon to 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2013at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

A celebration of life will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm at Runway Lounge in Bethalto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Bethalto.
