Thomas A. Fessler, age 83, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 8, 1941 in Alton, IL to the late Harold and Julia Fessler.
Thomas married Nancy Keidel in November 1961 and after her death, he married the late Margaret French in February of 1991.
Tom began his career at Ranken Technical Institute and was employed by Elliot Machine and Tool. He then worked at McDonell Douglas before he began working at Owens-Illinois in Godfrey. He retired after 40 years of service.
Tom cherished his childhood working with his grandfather and uncles farming wheat, selling produce at the roadside stand, and later working at McKee’s Market in Alton.
Tom appreciated his years with the Boy Scouts. He was disappointed that he missed Eagle Scout by one badge.
He was a fisherman who took many enjoyable trips with friends and then treated family and friends to a fish fry.
He will be truly missed by friends Wilbert Bartels, Jim Manns, and Bill Corby. He was truly grateful for the friendships of neighbors and many special friends.
Thomas is survived by his daughters Kim (Cliff) Hyman of Brighton, Melinda Fessler of Brighton, son Tim (Beth) Fessler of Bethalto, and Step-son Michael (Stacie) French of Chandler, AZ., sister’s in law Rebecca (Lou) Pinkas and Kathleen (David) Geisler, grandchildren Lauren (Mike) Palozzola, Matt Hyman, Meghan Fessler, Zachary (Kasey) Fessler, Kala (Tyler) Glenn, and Joshua (Tatum) French, 1 great-grandchild and 4 step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy (Keidel) Fessler in 1987, second wife, Margaret (French) Fessler in 2013, his parents, Harold and Julia (McKee) Fessler, and brother Kenneth Fessler.
Graveside services will be held at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery, Godfrey, IL on Wednesday May 22,2024 at 10 A.M.
