Thomas D. “Dave” Young, 63, died at 12:00 noon Monday, May 13, 2013 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born March 6, 1950 in Alton he was the son of the late Thomas D. and Kathryn (Gilmore) Young Sr. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and the Alton Eagles Foe No. 254. He worked as a supervisor in the sewer maintenance department for the City of Alton for 40 years. On June 10, 1972 he married the former Wanda L. Miller in Alton. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Tara Young of Alton, and Stacy Myers (Jared) of Alton, three grandchildren, Jayden and Trevor Myers, and Jackson Evans, four brothers and sisters, Carolyn Main (Larry) formerly of Godfrey and now of Port Charlotte, FL, Steven Young of Godfrey, Marianne Wahl (Dave) of Alton, and Jim Young (Susie) of Godfrey, a sister-in-law, Donna Mitchell of Washington, KY, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Young. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Online guestbook and information may be found at
