Thelma Beatrice Bumgardner, 76, died at 9:44 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born in Koshkonong, Missouri on January 17, 1943, one of four children born to the late Fred H. and Ursula Juanita (Jewel) Reef.
She married Robert Lee Bumgardner on July 10, 1971 and together they have been blessed with 48 years of marriage.
Thelma was “the best mom, ever”, in addition to being devoted wife, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her husband, Bob Bumgardner of Jerseyville; four children, Richard Verble of Long Beach, Mississippi; Debra Bryson of Dow; Juanita “Rita” Knight of Jamestown, Tennessee and Charles Verble of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Albert Reef of Jerseyville and William Reef of Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Reef.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation rights will be accorded and a celebration of her amazing life will be held at a later date.
