Terry W. Smith Sr., age 71, of Alton, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 22, 1947, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Richard D. and Mary C. (Walraven) Smith. He married Deborah Tucker February 3, 1974, in East Alton, and she survives.
Terry and his wife were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He loved to ride motorcycles and woodworking. Terry's greatest joys were spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Deborah; he is survived by four children and their spouses, Dawn Smith of Wood River, Terry Jr. and Heather Smith of Granite City, Shannon Gobble of Alton, and Wendy and Michael Agin of Cottage Hills; five siblings and their spouses, Richard Smith of Alton, Patty Bassett, Michael and Kim Laster of Metropolis, IL, Rosemary and David Gibbons of Kansas City, MO, and Ronnie and Debbie Crane of Godfrey; ten grandchildren, Ashley Madigan, Terry W. Smith III, Billy Smith, Amber Smith, Camille Gobble, Jessica Pickett, James Agin, Hope Smith, Rosemary Smith, and Kenny Smith; several great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Marlie Rae; and a brother, Gary Crane.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019, from Noon until the time of prayer service at 3:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
