Terry B. Taul, 78, passed away Thursday afternoon on July 4, 2024 in his home in Alton, Illinois. He was born on August 14, 1945 to the late Theodore Francis Taul and Gertrude (Baker) Taul. He lived in Alton, Illinois for a majority of his life with his wife, Cathy Jo Taul, whom he married on October 29, 1966 at St. Ambrose Church in Godfrey. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1963. He dedicated his life to his family, his faith, and his career. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a sergeant for six years. Afterwards, he worked as a sales rep and manager for 35 years at Sears where he spent most of his career. While he focused on his career, he was dedicated to his family and his faith. Terry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 44 years before moving to Kampsville, Illinois with his wife and continued being a parishioner when he moved back to the Alton area. He strongly believed in the Catholic faith. He loved to cook for his family and be around his loved ones and he never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. He never met a stranger and welcomed everyone he met. Terry was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and a volunteer with Arms of Love. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Taul, and his siblings, Harold, Marlene, Frank, Martha, Rosemary, Bill, and Donald. He is survived by five children, Scott (Donna) Taul of Godfrey, Chris Taul of Hamburg, Jenny (Robert) Brogdon of Jacksonville, Florida, Sherry Taul of St. Charles, Missouri, and Andrew (JoBeth) Taul of Kampsville; thirteen grandchildren, Nathan (Natalie), Zachary, Alex (Shannon), Kelsey (Nathan), Kayla, Brad (Natalie), Dr. Jessica, Carolyn (Jake), Jared, Summer, Aiden, Hayden, and Ren; eight great-grandchildren, Chloe, Alexa, Oliver, Karlie, Kylie, Adalyn, Jack, Emmitt, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Gent Funeral Home on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10 a.m. with an interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
