It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry E. Vallery, 57 of Cottage Hills. Terry died at home Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was born on October 25, 1954 in Wood River, the son of Elgee C. and Thelma (Null) Vallery. Terry was a 1973 graduate of Alton High School. He was a graduate of Ranken Technical and also attended Lewis and Clark College in Godfrey. He was a journeyman pressman at Wood River Printing and Publishing. He was a supervisor and insert machine operator for both the Post Dispatch and the Alton Telegraph. He also worked many years for Langen Oil Company. Terry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. He was also proud to be a volunteer firefighter for the Cottage Hills Fire Department. Terry loved hunting and fishing and being with his friends. He enjoyed boating, camping and TV. Over the years he had too many hobbies and collections to mention! He loved to talk about anything and everything. He was a kind man and had a great sense of humor. Terry loved his family. He so enjoyed being with his grandchildren and experiencing the world all over again through their eyes. Terry married the former Rana L. Roberts on November 24, 1974 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Angelena Vallery of Brighton and Julie and Chris Kadell of Godfrey; his grandchildren, Joelle and Corey (CJ) Hall; one brother and four sisters, Ronald Vallery, Paulette Fuller, Barb (Tony) Crossman, Glenda Harrell and Kathy (George) Parrent; a sister and brother-in-law, Ranita and Mike Eddy of Bethalto and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Michael. In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday, January 30, 2011 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 31, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Willard Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
