Susan Voss James,74, passed away at 7:25am on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the home of her niece and caretaker Mindy Wooten where she has resided for the last year and a half. She was born on October 6, 1938, in Alton, Illinois the daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy (Bunyan) Voss. She married William F. James Sr. on February 6, 1976, in East Alton, Illinois and he preceded her in death in January of 2008. In addition to her niece Mindy, other survivors include two sisters: Karla Roberts of Prescott, Arizona, Nancy McMillan of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and her lifelong friend: Judy Glassmeyer of East Alton.
She was formerly employed as the secretary to Mr. McDonnell, the President of McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri now known as Boeing. Susie was a former resident of Jefferson City, Missouri and had a special place in her heart for the Special Learning Center there. She rescued and loved animals. She was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: JoAnn Voss and Sondra Hanks.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
