Steven Sims

Steven K. Sims, 82, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home.

He was born on November 1, 1942, in Alton, the son of Robert and Iva (Brown) Sims. He married Jacqueline Doolen on February 19, 1966, and she survives.

Steve was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from BP Amoco where he had worked for many years.

Steve was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He was a 4th degree Knight and proudly served in many capacities with the Knights of Columbus. In his later years, he worked at Villa Rose, driving their community van and performing minor repairs.

Steve always enjoyed woodworking and always had several projects he was working on.  Steve very much loved watching the STL Cardinals with his grandkids. Most of all, Steve was always there to help anyone in need, and he love his family fiercely!

In addition to his wife, Jacque; he is survived by three children, Sheri (Greg) Frazier of Maryville, Steve Sims of Bethalto, and Peter Sims of Charlotte, NC; a brother-in-law, Mike Scheer; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jake Sims, Ella Sims, Michael (Rachel) Frazier, Ryan (Katie) Frazier, and Jaime Armstrong; 8 great grandchildren and  many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, M. Sue Scheer.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2025, 4 to 7 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Homes in Bethalto with military rites performed by Alton VFW #1308.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 10 a.m. at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, with Father Tom Liebler, officiating.
