Steven Morris Long, 49, died at 3:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family, after being diagnosed with liver cancer just a week ago.He was born in Jerseyville on Dec. 6, 1961, one of five children born to Morris F. & Lulu Belle (Eisler) Morris.Steve was raised in Jerseyville, and graduated from Jersey Community High School. He immediately became employed with the City of Jerseyville and has worked at the Oak Grove Cemetery for the majority of those years.He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, and former Moose Lodge both of Jerseyville, and enjoyed partcipating in various bowling leagues througt the Tri County Bowl in Jerseyville, playing softball, Nascar, and was well known for his continuous smile.He married Juanita Carroll on Feb. 19, 1999 in Jerseyville, and she survives.In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Cheyenne Long of Jerseyville; his mother, Lu Long of Jerseyville; his father, Morris Long of Jerseyville; three sisters, Tammy Dillard of Chester, Mary Jo Howland of Hamburg, Marlene Long of Dow; a stepson, Andrew Jenkins of Freeburg; a step granddaughter, Emma; and his mother in law,, Janice Carroll of JerseyvilleHe was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Chucky" Long on Sept. 8, 2010; his grandparents, Frank & Irma Eisler, Joseph Long, and Christina (Lyles) Long Woolsey; and his father in law, Harold Carroll.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Father William Hembrow will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to his family which will be used to place a permanent marker at his gravesite.
