Steve M. Komanetsky, 70, of Champaign, IL, died at his residence on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 11:45 am. He was born May 7, 1954, in Brookings, SD to Michael Komanetsky & Helen Mickalites Komanetsky. He graduated from Urbana High School in 1972, attended Southern Illinois University, and retired in 2016 after being employed at Kraft Foods in Champaign, IL for 40 years. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Welch of Castleton, VA, nephews and nieces Charles Welch, David Welch, and Gwendolyn Iaci of Virginia; Michael Welch of Colorado Springs, CO, and significant other, Cheri Quimby of Mahomet, IL. He is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews Adrian Cabrera, Catarina & Cecilia Welch; Eliana, Luca, Dominic, & Tessa Iaci; Kelsey, Caitlyn, & Bailey Welch of Virginia; and Emily, Adam, & Meghan Welch of Colorado Springs. Steve was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld, IL from 9 am until 10:30 am. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Benld Cemetery, Benld, IL.
