Stephen Schrimpf, 72, died at 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Alton Memorial Rehab.
He was born on August 29, 1949, in Alton, the son of the late Edward and Marcella (Baker) Schrimpf. He graduated in 1974 from the University of Arkansas with a Juris Doctorate degree and while there he served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1968-1970. He last served as General Counsel for Joseph E. Meyer & Associates in Edwardsville, IL. from 1990 to present. Stephen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and pets, and he loved his motorcycles, his cars, and especially, “Old Red”, his 1949 Chevy truck which he bought from its original owner. On August 5, 1980, in Alton, he married Mary Hazel and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Nathan Sander (Sacha) of Maryville, IL., Benjamin Schrimpf of Edwardsville, IL, four grandchildren, Aaro Sander, Ocean Sander, Ronin Sander, Emma Schrimpf, and one brother, Peter Schrimpf (Robin) of Katy, TX.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Abundant Life Community Church in Alton where funeral services will also be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, with Reverend David Anderson Officiating. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
