Stephen Mark Kreitner, 56, passed away peacefully into heaven at 8:37 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Beverly Farm in Godfrey with loved ones by his side. He was born July 9, 1958 in Alton to the late Edward J., Sr. and Sarah Theresa (DeNatale) Kreitner. Stephen was known as Stevie by his family and friends. He lived at home as a child with his devoted parents and family until 1975 at the time of his father’s passing. Stevie was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John E. and Anna Kreitner and maternal grandparents, Michael and Frances DeNatale. He was the youngest of five children. Stevie is survived by three brothers, Edward J. Kreitner Jr. (Susan) of Alton, Daniel E. Kreitner (Linda) of Alton, David A. Kreitner (Natalie) of San Jose, CA, and a sister, Sue A. Copeland (Jim) of Godfrey. Stevie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who loved him very much. Stevie became a resident of Beverly Farm on April 1, 1991. He also worked at A.R.C. doing piece work. He is lovingly remembered by the Beverly Farm family who watched over and cared for him for over 20 years. His playful personality, willingness to be helpful and the ability to make the staff laugh will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Robert Harris will officiate.
