Stephen A. Taylor died Tuesday, January 7, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathie Lee (Simpson) Taylor and his parents, Reverend Howard “Todd” and Mavis Taylor. Mr. Taylor is survived by his two loving daughters, Lori Merkel (Stephen) and Staci Hayes (Brian), his four loving grandchildren, Bailey Stephen Merkel, Jordan Stephen Merkel, Hudson Taylor Hayes, and Holden Thomas Hayes, his sister, Nancy Meggos (Harry), and his mother-in-law, Opal Simpson. He is also a brother-in-law and uncle. He will be dearly missed by his loving friend Jane Lewis. Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home & Crematory, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St. Charles, MO 63304. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Christian Academy in Creve Coeur, MO. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
