Stanley Rhea Winkler, 70, passed away at 2:09 am Saturday January 26, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital under the care of BJC Hospice, with his family by his side.
He was born on July 12, 1942 in New Berlin, IL, the son of Antone and Iola Winkler.
He married Diane Schoeneweis on January 25, 1964 in Bethalto. She Survives.
Stanley was an avid NASCAR fan as well as a stock car racer himself. He was a proud supporter of the Bethalto American Legion, and he also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals, and Illini Basketball. He loved spending time in his garage as well as his back yard and porch.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Dawn and Clifford Trout of Pontiac, IL, and Dana Lacquement and special friend Mike Graner of Bethalto; five grandchildren, Melisa, Darin, and Aly Trout, and Katie and Jarrett Lacquement and their father Joe Lacquement; his extended family, Mindy and Alice Ulrich Simpson; two nieces, Stacey Perryman and Tammy Sparrowks; a nephew, Tracy L. Autery; and six great nieces and nephews, Derek, Clayton, Bryan, Brittany, Bethann, and Breanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother August Winkler.
Visitation will be from 4 pm until 7 pm on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral will be on Tuesday January 29, 2013 at 11 am at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
