Stanley Kucharczyk, 91, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at his home in Godfrey. Born May 13, 1920 in Krakow, Poland, he was the son of Jan and Valerie (Pitula) Kucharczyk.

He first worked for the Ursuline Convent in Alton and then as a machinist for the Olin Corp., retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. On December 26, 1948 in Bremen, Germany, he married the former Ann Wachowiak. She preceded him in death on November 16, 2010.

Surviving are his five children, Barb Chin and husband Bob of Palatine, IL, Stephen Kucharczyk, of Shorewood, Wis., David Kucharczyk and wife Paula, and Lynda Willings all of Godfrey, and Mary Porta and husband, David of Ballwin, MO, 13 grandchildren, Jessica Mossman and husband Brian, Dr. Mark Kucharczyk and wife Dr. Amanda Kucharczyk, Katie, Christopher and David Willings, Jonathan and Andrew Chin, Allison McQuinn and husband Mike, Cody and Elliott Kucharczyk, Daria, Ian and Dustin Porta; six great grandchildren, Sydney, Ben, Logan and Callie Mossman and Jenna and Mia Kucharczyk. He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter-in-law, Christy Kucharczyk.

Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to the Ursuline Convent in Alton, Eunice Smith and West Elementary School Libraries c/o Chris Norman or St. Ambrose School Endowment.
