Stanley E. Gade

Stanley E. Gade, also known as Camper, 79, passed away at 8:26 pm Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born on September 7, 1932 in Bona, CO, the son of Walter and Beatrice E. (Strode) Gade.   

He married Margaret L. Gade on July 20, 1957 in Picket, AR.  She passed away on March 26, 2011.

Stanley served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He was a welder at Louisiana Boat Deck.  He was a lifetime member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He got his first nine point deer last year at the age of 78.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Stan L. Gade and his finance’ Lisa Edwards of Grafton, Timothy V. and Lupe Gade of Alton, Edna B. Murphy and her fiancé’ Doug Smith of East Alton, James L. Gade and his fiancé’ Melissa Ross of Pittsburg, KS and Rosemary and Kevin Slone of East Alton; ten grandchildren, Jerry, Raye and his wife, Jennifer, Paul and his wife, Stephanie, Dawn, Rhea, Desha, Ashley, Heather, Kevin and Marie; eight great grandchildren;  eight great, great grandchildren; two sisters, Jonelle Naylor of Wood River and Alberta Hillen of O’Fallon, MO and several nieces and nephews.   

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leland Gade and a sister, Willmia Bessler.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, January 16, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Charles West officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military rites by the Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be given to Alton VFW Post 1308.
