Stanley L. Allen, 88, of Greenville, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation.

A private family service and burial will take place on Sunday, March 30, at 12:00 pm, Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home with burial at 1:00 pm at the Reno Bethel Cemetery. Memorials in his honor may be directed to the American Farm Heritage Museum.

Stanley Louis Allen was born on August 24, 1936, at the family home in Greenville to George and Edith (Brewer) Allen. He was the youngest of six children and grew up in Greenville, where he attended local schools. He later obtained his G.E.D. in January of 1962 while serving in the Army.

Stanley married Jennie Grace Mery on August 21, 1959, at the Lutheran Church in Greenville. The couple enjoyed over 64 years of marriage before Jennie's passing on February 12, 2024.

Stanley was drafted Oct. 29, 1959, and enlisted in the United States Army, 3D Armored Rifle Battalion 50th Infantry. He served at Ft. Hood, TX, shipped out of Fort Hamilton, New York en route to WildFlecken, Germany. He was honorably discharged Feb. 13, 1962, with 2 years, 3 months, 4 days of service, earning the Code of Good Conduct Medal.

Over the years, Stanley worked at the Greenville Glove Manufacturing Company, Coates Steel Ball Factory and for several local farms in the area. His lifelong passion was being a farmer working on his homeplace farm where he grew up. He enjoyed attending tractor pulls, cattle shows, the Springfield State Fair and many Farm Heritage events. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. 

Stanley is survived by his two children: twins Lori Jean (Tim) Watson of rural Greenville and Bradley Richard Allen (Teri) Allen of Highland; four grandchildren: Trenton, Tyler, Toby (Allen), and Cadence (Watson); and three sisters: Jeanie Andrews of Mt. Olive, Virginia Flamm of Smithboro, and Carol Strotheide of Salem, MO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jennie, and his siblings, George "Manny" Allen and Don Allen.
