Sonia Burch

Sonia Anne (Lawson) Burch, 70, died at 4:15 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Hardin on April 19, 1941, one of three children born to the late Ezekial "Zeke" and Orlena (Silkwood) Lawson.Sonia grew up in the Calhoun area, and graduated in 1959 from Calhoun High School.  She had been employed as a cashier for many years at the Shop 'n Save in Jerseyville until retiring in 1993.She first married Everett "Bud" Delp, and together they had two daughters,  Melodie & Susan.  She later married Jerry Burch Sr., and they had a son, Jerry.Surviving are her two daughters & a son in law, Melodie & David Sauerwein of Charleston and Susan Delp of Jerseyville; a son, Jerry Burch of Chicago; a granddaughter, Taylor Sauerwein a student at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston; a brother, Bill Lawson of Quincy.She was preceded in death by both her parents, and a brother, Michael Lawson.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fieldon United Church of Christ with Rev. Barbara Alley officiating.Burial will be in the Fieldon Cemetery.
