Shirley “Faye” Morrow, 85, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at her home.
Born May 1, 1940 in Hardin County, IL, she was a daughter of Charlie and Gladys Irene (Reed) Davis.
She married Robert Earl Morrow June 3, 1960 in Rosewood Heights. He passed away Nov. 16, 1994.
After graduating from high school and getting married, Faye began raising her two children and then enrolled in Kitzmiller Beauty College in Alton. She began her career as a hairdresser and eventually bought her own shop. Faye was always “in the know” and was a people person in the most sincere sense. A longtime member of Friendship General Baptist Church, she loved to play piano and sing, watch the Cardinal ballgames, take road trips and engage in telephone conversations. Spending time with her grandbabies was “the best thing.”
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Drew of Rosewood Heights; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Morrow of East Alton; 6 grandchildren, Eric (Shpresa) Morrow, Tyler (Katie) Morrow, Erin (Andy Herrin) Morrow, Trisha (Jeff) Brown, Tracie (Christopher) Brobst, and Krista (Matt) Mourning; 6 great grandchildren, Aida and Leona Morrow, Madelyn Mourning, Sofia Anderson-Drew, and Avery and Maisie Morrow; her sister-in-law and husband, Carolyn and Carl Patton of Cottage Hills; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Morrow; and her siblings, Opal Hubbard, Charles Troy “Tom” Davis, Garry Don Davis, and 2 infant sisters Eleanor and Brenda Sue Davis.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 10 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 9 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Church Cemetery.
