Shirley L. Beck, age 97 of Highland, IL, died Friday, August 23, 2024, at Cedarhurst of Highland in Highland, IL.
She was born on Monday, November 15, 1926, in Edwardsville, IL, the daughter of Joseph "Leo" and Edna (nee Stahlhut) Schafer.
She was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ, and the Highland Women's Club.
Shirley was born in her family home in Edwardsville, IL and grew up in that area until graduating in 1945 from Edwardsville High School. She worked at the Pet Milk company in St. Louis for five years until she got married and lived on a farm north of Grantfork. Shirley enjoyed traveling to Canada, Europe, the Hawaii Islands, and the Caribbean. She loved to garden, liked fishing especially on vacations in Florida. She was an avid bowler, played the flute in St. Louis Women's Symphony as a young lady, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL, with Rev. Nancy L. Brooks, Interim Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be at Grantfork United Church of Christ Cemetery in Grantfork, IL.
