Shirley Knipping

Shirley Ann (Wiseman) Knipping, 85, formerly of South Roxana, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.

Born Feb. 15, 1931 in Alton, she was a daughter of Omer and Lucille (Cartwright) Wiseman.

She married Charles E. “Gene” Knipping Oct. 12, 1950 in Alton. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jeff Knipping; and sister Marjorie Kreider.

Survivors include her son, Greg Knipping and his wife Pam of Godfrey; 2 grandchildren, Sara (Ryan) Morrissey and Marli (Scott) Nixon; four great grandchildren, Shane, Caroline and Vivienne Morrissey and Nolan Nixon; and a brother-in-law, Clete Kreider.

Shirley worked as a secretary for Olin Corporation for 20 years, retiring in 1987.  She was active in many Christian ministries.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 4 p.m. until services begin at 7 p.m.  Graveside committal service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23 at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.  Pastor Gary Mosimann will officiate both services.

Memorials may be made to Wanda United Methodist Church or Faith Fellowship Church.
