Shirley A. Delehanty, 84, died at 9:10 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2018 at Robings Manor in Brighton. Born March 13, 1934 in Lively Grove, IL, she was the daughter of Joseph R. and Loretta (Herrin) Taul. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and retired from the accounting department at the Alton Telegraph at the age of 70. Surviving are three children, Michael Delehanty of Alton, Teresa Long (John) of McKinney, TX, and Susan Delehanty-Brown (John) of Alton, four grandchildren, Gabriel Delehanty (Abigail), Amber Almeter (Joe), Ryley Long, and Garrett Long, and seven great grandchildren, Peyton, Claire, Noah, Harper and Lucy Delehanty, and Kailey and Reid Almeter. Also surviving are three sisters, Kay Ansell, Jane Heiminmier, and Delores King. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James Taul, Joseph R. Taul Jr., Dale Taul, and Jack Taul, and five sisters, Sue Gray, Mary Yost, Betty Hellrung, Barbara Rodney and Judy Bland. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Father John Hellrung will officiate.
