Shelvy Jean Perry, 71, passed away on Sunday March 20, 2011 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born on July 11, 1939 in Alton to the late Henry and Rosie (Bea) Holliday.

She married Robert Lee Perry Jr. on July 30, 1966 in Alton.  He preceded her in death on August 22, 1983.

Shelvy attended the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses. She worked for Ventures Department Store, Alton Memorial Hospital, Famous Barr, and Senior Service Plus in house keeping. She also worked with the Foster Grand Parents in the Alton community helping many children. She loved helping others and was a beloved mother to all.

She is survived by a by 3 daughters, Shelia Sanders of Alton, Tina Williams of St. Louis, and Schendora Perry of Alton; 4 sons, Lynn and Linda Sanders of Columbus, Ohio, Craig and Berta Perry Sr. of Alton, Rondell and Darlene Perry Sr. of Alton, and Timothy Perry of Alton; step-daughter Mary Kinchem, adopted daughter Lorrette Bass. She has 25 Grand Children, 20 great grand Children, and 1 great-great-grand daughter. Special friends Anthony Ballinger, Esther Miller, Shana Dunlap, Michael Norise, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; also surviving is one brother Dan Montgomery Holliday of Chicago, Il.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband; 4 brothers Johnny Jackson, Henry Ivo Holliday Jr., Frank Holliday Sr. and Stanley Holliday Sr., 3 Sisters, Grace Radford, Clara Vaughn, Ruby Holliday Gaddy Musgrow, and a niece and nephew.

Visitation will be from 10 am until 12pm Friday March 25, 2011 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral Service will follow at 12pm at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
